 AN EARLY 12-BORE 1879 PATENT 'THE EDINBURGH' BAR-IN-WOOD HAMMERLESS TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION NON-EJECTOR, serial no. 857, 
 circa 1882, 28in. sleeved nitro steel to damascus barrels (in 1972), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke, right bore dimension marginal,  Macnaughton patent lever-cocking hammerless treble-grip action, patent no. 2848 of 1879, use number 37, fences engraved 'MACNAUGHTON. EDINBURGH.' in swirling banners, elongated skeletal toplever, top tang with crystal inspection cover, manual lever safety, replacement crosspin, bar-in-wood, scroll engraving with ropework bordering (some wear and pits to edges), 15 1/2in.  replacement stock, fore-end with replacement wood, Deeley & Edge patent release catch and bone finial, weight 6lb. 14oz.
