circa 1870, with two-groove octagonal 28in. barrel, applied fore-sight, rear-sight of a standing notch with two additional folding leaves, border engraved octagonal form flip-open breech signed 'NEWARK'S PATENT', borderline and scroll engraved bar action lock with external cocking 'hammer' but with internal striker, the fall of the hammer also locking the breech, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture and replacement wood clearing rod below the barrel, iron surfaces with fine frosting
