for 1912, 28in. replacement nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (in 1987, reproved after chambers extended in 1989), rib gold-inlaid '3', tubes engraved 'HENRY ATKIN LTD. 7, BURY STREET ST. JAMES'S LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and imp. cyl choke, rounded bar action with removable striker discs, the fences deeply carved with scrolled acanthus, toplever gold-inlaid '3', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, spring opening action based on the Beesley / Purdey 1880 patent with 1909 model improved ejector, best bold scrolling acanthus engraving with floral detailing, the makers name in an elaborate cartouche to the lockplates, the underside with 'HENRY ATKIN FROM PURDEY'S' in a further cartouche, bright and blued finish, 14 3/8in. highly-figured replacement stock, cast on for the left shoulder, the fore-end finial gold-inlaid '3', weight 6lb. 10oz., with a nylon gunslip
