AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE PERSONALLY PRESENTED SAMUEL COLT PIN-BADGE FROM THE 1851 CRYSTAL PALACE EXHIBITION,
of rectangular form with indented corners, measuring approximately 1in. x 3/4in., the front with the legend 'COL COLT PAT REPEATING FIREARMS AMERICA' together with a depiction of an open frame revolver, the surface flooded with black enamel, the reverse with safety pin clip and stating in raised letters 'GIVEN TO YOU BY COL SAM COLT CRYSTAL PALACE INTERNATIONAL EX MAY 1851'. contained in a later embroidered pouch

Provenance: Tradition has it that these pin-badges were personally given exclusively by Samuel Colt to parties interesting in ordering his revolvers on show at the Crystal Palace exhibition
