A 12-BORE SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 28708,
for 1988, 28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the tubes engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining much original colour-hardening and finish, the lockplates gold-inlaid 'J. PURDEY & SONS.', the underside gold inlaid 'J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON. ENGLAND.', the triggerguard tang gold-inlaid with the serial number, 15 3/8in. boldly-figured stock, the fore-end iron gold-inlaid with the serial number, weight 6lb. 7oz., in its lightweight leather case with canvas and leather outer cover and with an alloy flight case (will accommodate the cased gun)


Provenance: The Lot is supplied with a letter from Purdey confirming the specifications, citing 'standard fine engraving with gold-inlaid JPS on locks and underside of action, gold number on guard' and that the stock is 'straight hand stock with American comb'
