circa 1845, the blued 9 3/8in. octagonal barrel with dovetailed blade fore sight, narrow blind flutes and engraved flats to the muzzle, centre and breech, scroll engraved breech with number '1' to the bolster, the tang with standing notch rear-sight, scroll engraved bar-action lock, en-suite hammer (not holding on cock), walnut half stock with fluted grip and carved central scrolled panels, moulded and engraved spire iron butt cap, adjustable set trigger and iron trigger-guard with finger spur, no provision for ramrod, much original finish
