A CASED 60-BORE PERCUSSION RECIPROCATING TRANSITIONAL REVOLVER WITH DAW'S IMPROVEMENT, serial no. 1181,
circa 1845 and of Lang patent type, with octagonal 4 1/4in. barrel, the top-flat signed 'WITTON DAW & CO. IMPROVED, 57 THREADNEEDLE ST. LONDON', engraved band at muzzle, borderline to barrel throat, dove-tailed diminutive front and rear-sights, wedge barrel fastener, fully fluted reciprocating six-shot cylinder with matching number, guarded nipples and full under-strap, border and scroll engraved radiused boxlock action with central offset single action long-spurred hammer, finely chequered walnut grip, moulded and engraved iron grip cap with central trap and guarded trigger, in its maker's walnut casing relined in green baize but retaining the original parchment trade label and together with a period flask, loading rod, turn screw and cap tin plus a later mould
