WILLIAM POWELL & SON 12-BORE POWELL 1864 PATENT BAR-IN-WOOD LIFT-UP TOPLEVER ROTATING SINGLE BOLT SNAP-ACTION HAMMERGUN, serial no. 4335 for 1869, 30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 1979), the rib engraved 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 13. CARRS LANE. BIRMINGHAM.; (rubbed), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, incorporating William Powell patent lift-up toplever, patent no. 1163 of 7th May 1864, use no. 765, bar-in-wood, fluted teardrop fences with Powell patent 'Loaded' indicators, patent no. 1055 of 1869, bar-action locks with blacked rebounding hammers, border engraving, bright and re-blued finish overall, 14in. figured stock, fore-end with cross-pin release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 10oz.,

Thank you for your letter of the 27th. July received this morning. We note from your letter that you are the proud owner of a William Powell Patent Snap Action centre fire hammer gun No. 4335. The required details are as follows:

Gun made for L.J. Spons Esq.,

Date of invoice: November 3rd. 1869.

Invoice reads as follows:

One best central fire breech loader No. 4335 weighing 7lbs 2oz. Our patent action, damascus barrels 30 inches, 12 bore our improved strikers and rebounding locks, best materials but plain finish (this meaning only border engraved action) In best solid leather case with Revins patent turnover, extra sprins (sic) for locks and action. Price £30.0.0.
