A 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 4181,
for 1887, 28in. sleeved nitro barrels (in 1973), retaining original rib (inscription rubbed) gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip action with hidden third bite and side-clips, arcaded fences, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, conversion from non-ejector, bold acanthus scroll engraving, with ornate bordering, 14 1/2in. boldly-figured stock including 1in. recoil pad, split to right underhorn, weight 6lb. 9oz., in a modern canvas and leather case, together with some details from the makers


Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed the gun was completed on the 27th June 1887 as No.1 of a pair of hammerless non-ejector game guns, built on 'Woodward's patent action with clip sides' for Robert J Foster
