A JAPANESE WORLD WAR II SHIN GUNTO SWORD, circa late 1930s, with 20 in. single-edged blade with brass collar, brass guard with chrysanthemum decoration, wooden handle with brass chrysanthemum decoration and ray skin with brown cord wrap, brass pommel, laced leather-covered wooden scabbard with single brass suspension ring, worn, the blade is loose in the handle, has been shortened by some 3 in. and reprofiled, scrubbed bright with blinded pitting remaining, some loss to the ray shin
