AN AUSTRIAN MODEL 1845 CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD, circa 1850s, 34 in. pipe-backed blade etched with stand of arms on both sides, with Austrian coat-of-arms on one side and Emperor's cypher over, ricasso etched '1846', steel hilt with pierced bowl guard, scabbard with two suspension rings, blade clean but otherwise heavily worn with exterior of guard polished bright with almost complete loss of engraved definition but still showing pitting, interior heavily rusted and pitted, grip wire loose with loses, scabbard crudely painted gloss black over heavy pitting
