WOODWARD & SONS 12-BORE 'THE AUTOMATIC' PUSH-FORWARD UNDERLEVER SNAP-ACTION SIDELOCK NON-EJECTOR, serial no. 3703, circa 1880, 29in. nitro reproved blacked damascus barrels, rib engraving indistinct, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 choke in both, some dents, carved foliate fences, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'BOLTED' detail, protruding tumbler pivots with gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, the lockplates engraved with 'COCKED' details, best fine acanthus scroll engraving, the face of the action engraved 'Woodward's Patent', 'THE AUTOMATIC 260', and the underside carved in relief 'THE AUTOMATIC. WOODWARD'S PATENT', 15in. pistolgrip stock (cast for central vision) including 7/8in. rubber recoil pad, weight 6lb. 13oz., in a leather leg of mutton guncase
