A 20-BORE FLINTLOCK LIVERY or HOLSTER PISTOL SIGNED HARDWELL, no visible serial number,
circa 1730, with round iron triple-staged 7in. barrel, engraved borderlines at the intersections, deeply struck London proofs, borderline engraved radiused lock with pointed tail, 'HARDWELL' signature below the shallow pan, unbridled frizzen, swan-necked cock, walnut full-stock with mouldings around the lock, pierced sideplate and top-tang, brass furniture including grotesque mask long-spurred butt-cap, moulded trigger guard bow and turned ramrod thimbles
Provenance: Thomas Hardwell traded in London in the Wapping area between 1703 to circa 1741. He was joined by his two sons, William in 1724 and John in 1729
