A GOOD CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION REVOLVER SIGNED WITTON & DAW, serial no. 225,
circa 1856, with 6 1/8in. octagonal sighted barrel, the top flat inscribed 'WITTON & DAW, 57 THREADNEEDLE ST. LONDON,', fitted with a colour hardened under-lever rammer of compound linkage design, blued open borderline and scroll engraved frame marked 'PATENT NO 225', five shot London proved colour hardened cylinder (finish faded) also marked '1' to '5' between each chamber web at front, double action mechanism, the contrasting blued hammer striking the nipples through a raised aperture on the standing breech, chequered walnut grip with colour hardened back-strap and moulded and engraved butt-cap with central trap, the revolver retaining the majority of its original finish and colour and together with a later green baize lined and partitioned oak case, reproduction Witton Daw & Co. trade label inside lid, together with period mould, flask, loading rod, cap tin, turn-screw, nipple-key and oil bottle
