Product Details

A RARE BOXED .177 BSA 1 OF 1000 CENTENARY AIRSPORTER AIR-RIFLE WITH THE DESIRABLE SERIAL NUMBER C0177,
made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of BSA in 1982, with blued 19 1/2in. barrel, ramp fore-sight, micro-adjustable rear-sight, tap-action loading, the air-chamber marked 'BSA PILED ARMS CENTENARY ONE OF ONE THOUSAND', special edition chequered walnut three-quarter stock with raised comb and cheek-piece and pistol-grip, ventilated rubber recoil pad, schnabel fore-end tip, the whole appearing un-used and in its maker's plastic wrapper and complete with its original issue 'BSA' 4x40 telescopic sight (missing mounts), special 'BSA piled arms' cover for the pistol grip, all certificates and papers, sew-on badge, oil tube, target-holder with targets, tunnel fore-sight protector and its original limited edition leather sling with swivels and vinyl gunbag (pellet sample absent), in its maker's card packaging (tears and small losses)

Provenance: Previously sold Weller & Dufty Ltd., sale no. A69847, Lot No. 599.

BSA's original intention was to produce 500 of these 'Piled Arms Centenary' air-rifles in each calibre, .177 & .22, making 1000 guns in total. In practice, demand for the .22 version far outstripped the demand for the .177, causing BSA to rebarrel some of the .177 issues to the more popular .22, meaning that only around 300 rifles were sold in .177
