A DELUXE ENGRAVED .32 (RIMFIRE) SILVER-PLATED SMITH & WESSON MODEL 2 ARMY REVOLVER, serial no. 31522,
circa 1868, with octagonal 6in. barrel, the raised sighting rib signed 'SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD MASS', crescent fore-sight, the muzzle and breech apparently factory engraved with scrolls and arabesques, further arabesques to the top-rib, plain six-shot cylinder engraved with American scrolls around the circumference, scroll engraved break-open frame, spur trigger, exposed hammer and square-heeled mother of pearl grips, the whole with a silver replated finish conducted in its working life (flaking, barrel loose on hinge)
