A RARE .625 FLINTLOCK BAKER 1803 PATTERN 'CAVALRY RIFLE' SIGNED TOWER, no visible serial number,
circa 1806, with twist iron seven-groove rifled 20in. round barrel, brass fore-sight, the original standing notch rear-sight removed and filled in its working life, Tower proofs, knock-off breech, bevel-edged Baker style lock with stepped tail signed 'TOWER', bolted safe behind the ring-necked cock, 'G.R.' crown device below the semi rain-proof pan, walnut full-stock with raised cheek-piece, brass furniture including patch-box to the right hand side (containing cleaning tools), the heel-plate spur marked '7-L-D' and 'H' over '15', brass trigger guard bow with raised finger-spurred tang, iron saddle-bar with ring and iron stirrup ramrod threaded at tip for the afore mentioned tools (some hairline cracks and repairs to wood around and below lock)

Provenance: Despite being of carbine proportions, these sophisticated military weapons were referred to as 'cavalry rifles' by Baker and were almost exclusively issued to the Light Dragoons
