30in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib gold-inlaid '3' at the breech end and engraved 'J. PURDEY, AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 3/4 choke, treble-grip action with hidden third bite, removable striker discs, fences carved in high relief with stylised rococo floral and foliate motifs on a finely stippled background, toplever gold-inlaid '3', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, best engraving of fine acanthus scrollwork and floral bouquets, brushed finish, 14 7/8in. replacement stock, oval escutcheon engraved (very worn) 'FROM MAHARAJAH OF ALWAR TO S.A.K.', weight 7lb. 1oz., in a brass-cornered oak and canvas case with Purdey trade label (detached) and Purdey charges label for gun serial no. 20691
