A .577 PERCUSSION SMOOTHBORE MUSKET, MODEL 'INDIA PATTERN '53/56 TWO-BAND', no visible serial number,
the lock dated 1857, with blued 31 1/2in. barrel marked with Tower proofs and inspector's stamps at breech, block fore-sight acting as bayonet lug, fixed standing notch rear-sight, borderline engraved blued lock and hammer, the lock signed 'TOWER' together with the date and a 'V.R.' crown device at tail, walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture and jag-ended iron ramrod
