A 10.8x47R SINGLE-SHOT TARGET-RIFLE, MODEL 'MARTINI-TYPE', serial no. 1910,
circa 1900, with blued octagonal tapering 30 3/4in. barrel, the top signed 'ST. ILLICHMANN IN WIEN', fine fore-sight bead with curved side-protectors, the first 10 1/2in. with raised dove-tail for an absent rear-sight, colour hardened slab-sided action signed 'ST ILLICHMANN' on the right hand side and 'IN WIEN' on the left, top-tang with raised squared socket for a peep-sight (absent), figure chequered walnut butt-stock of Tyrolean style with ornately carved thumb-rest and rear of comb, colour hardened hooked butt-plate, the underside of butt bearing incomplete period gummed labels, one from a jewelry retailer the other from a shooting competition, complex double-spurred trigger-guard acting as the under-lever, double set triggers and chequered walnut splinter fore-end with carved tip and shield shaped white-metal escutcheon to the underside
