circa 1865, with 3 3/4in. semi-octagonal nickel smooth-bore barrel (fore-sight bead absent), the left hand side marked 'UNWIN & RODGERS, PATENTEES, SHEFFIELD', Birmingham proofs, iron breech-block with varient lift-up standing breech and pull-back extractor with ring sight to top, central hammer to rear, the underside of pistol with folding trigger and folding 3 1/3in. false edged dagger blade marked along its length 'SELF PROTECTOR, the forte signed 'UNWIN & RODGERS, SHEFFIELD', nickel bolsters, provision for ammunition storage in rear of butt (trapdoor missing), the side scales later walnut replacements
