circa 1865, with 33in. re-blued barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT' (refreshed, some pitting below finish), dove-tailed small tunnel fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, moulded short sighting rib at breech, plain top-tang, flat plain bar-action lock signed 'MANCHESTER ORDNANCE & RIFLE CO' (refreshed) and with crowned wheatsheaf trade mark with the letter 'W' on the tail, figured walnut three-quarter stock with chequered grip and fore-end, blued iron mounts, the trigger-guard tang with factory applied chequered finger-spur, three iron barrel-bands, iron sling mounts and iron ramrod (corroded)
