with 35 7/8in. re-blued round heavy barrel marked 'WHITWORTH PATENT' towards the breech (probably refreshed), squared mounting-block for the dove-tailed windage adjustable tunnel fore-sight, the mounting-block for the ladder rear-sight signed 'MANCHESTER ORDNANCE & RIFLE CO' (rubbed), recessed patent breech, plain tang fitted with mounting-block for aperture target sight (present), detented bolted lock signed 'MANCHESTER ORDNANCE & RIFLE CO.' and with the Whitworth trademark on the tail, well figured walnut pistolgrip half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, blued chequered iron butt-plate, horn fore-end cap and pistol grip cap, a silver escutcheon to underside of stock, no provision for ramrod
