circa 1850, with octagonal twist iron 30in. barrel rifled in four grooves possibly for Jacob's winged bullet, the top-flat signed 'CHARLES. LANCASTER, 151 NEW BOND ST. LONDON' (refreshed), the squared patent breech-block with platinum vent, line and an inlaid poincon embossed 'CHARLES LANCASTER, LONDON', inlet blade fore-sight, dove-tailed rear-sight with twin folding leaves and one standing notch, all with platinum centre-lines, fully scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'C. LANCASTER LONDON', scroll engraved hammer with sliding safe, chequered walnut half-stock with vacant rectangular escutcheon to wrist, further initialled oval escutcheon behind lower tang, raised cheek-piece, iron patchbox with circular lid engraved with two lions to right hand side of butt, chequered iron heel-plate, single set trigger with chequered blade, chequered pistol grip spur to the lower tang, plain ramrod thimbles and replacement ramrod
