GLOUCESTER.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 3/4 choke, action incorporating Thomas Perkes patent 10679 of 1886, use number 122, action face with Scott patent 'gas check' vents, use No. 3244, automatic safety with engraved 'SAFE' detail, border and partial acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of colour-hardening and finish, 14in. figured stock, the escutcheon marked with a stags head surmounted by the motto 'Deus Solamen' ("God my comfort", most likely the Kerr crest), weight 6lb. 11oz.
