for between 1856-64, with 24in. barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, dove-tailed standing notch rear-sight with provision for two additional folding leaves and marked '100' & '600' (the '300' leaf absent), solid frame, the top-strap re-engraved 'COLT'S PT 1856' and 'ADDRESS COL COLT HARTFORD C.T. U.S.A.', fully fluted cylinder, side-hammer action, walnut butt-stock (old repair at toe), crescent heel-plate with central sliding gate for a cleaning brush (absent), iron trigger-guard bow and tang, walnut full length fore-end with two iron barrel-bands, brass nose-cap, no provision for bayonet, factory sling swivels, articulated loading lever and iron under-barrel button-ended cleaning rod, some refinishing throughout
