A .577-450 SINGLE-SHOT CARBINE, MODEL 'CAVALRY CARBINE', serial no. 'F74',
dated for 1895, with re-blued 21 1/2in. barrel, ramp fore-sight blade with side protectors, short elevating ladder rear-sight, serial no. to nocksform, slab sided receiver, the right side with a crown over 'V.R.' over 'B.S.A. & M.Co' over the date and 'I.C.1' (all rubbed, other markings possibly erased), walnut butt-stock with traces of an Indian Army issue roundel (working repair at toe), iron heel-plate and under-lever, walnut full-length fore-end with cavalry type nose-cap and two iron barrel bands, the front example with bayonet lug, refinished throughout
