A CASED 15-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, serial no. 2966,
circa 1860, with rebrowned damascus 29 3/4in. side-by-side barrels, the top-rib signed 'JOSEPH LANG 22 COCKSPUR STREET, LONDON' (rubbed, illegible in places), bead fore-sight, shallow carved percussion fences, borderline and scroll engraved short top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action locks with dolphin headed engraved hammers, the locks signed 'J. LANG' on the bars, walnut butt-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron furniture, single bite swing-lever opening, fully chequered walnut splinter fore-end with cross-key fixing and complete with a period walnut storage case possibly refitted for this shotgun and lined in green baize with replacement trade label to inside of lid
