circa 1894, 26in. octagonal black powder only barrel with wave-cut top flat, open sights with two folding leaf sights, white metal-inlaid sight lines and marked for 50, 100 and 150 yards, bead fore-sight, the breech end mounted with a Voigtlander Skopar Beta telescopic sight, serial numbered 20452 and engraved 'RIFLE NO. 18971', the sides engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98, NEW BOND ST. LONDON. WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS. .295 SEMI SMOOTH BORE', teardrop fences, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, non-selective ejector, best bold acanthus scroll engraving, retaining much original colour-hardening, 14 7/8in. 'sunburst' figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, steel pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, Hackett snap fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 13oz. (unscoped) and 6lb. 14oz. (with scope)
