A SCARCE NAZI-PERIOD 'DEUTSCHER SCHUTZEN VERBAND' HUNTING HANGER,
wartime produced, with 15 1/2in. single edged spear-point blade, etched on both sides with foliage and panels of stags being hunted either with dogs or by a hunter, the right side with additional crossed rifles and a target device, etched running vine to the back edge, signed on the ricasso 'ORIGINAL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN' together with a trademark of a squirrel holding a sword, small plated shell guard with laurel and oak leaves in relief surrounding an applied circular enamelled badge bearing the legend 'DEUTSCHER SCHUTZEN VERBAND' around an eagle with a target shaped body, the words interspersed with swastikas, 'S' shaped cross-guard with acorn finials, plated mounts and fluted celluloid hilt (cracked) with applied crossed rifles, some flaking to plating, complete with its leather scabbard with plated mounts,
