A 1936 PATTERN CHAINED DAGGER FOR THE WAFFEN SS,
circa 1938, with unsigned double-edged 8 3/4in. blade bearing the etched motto 'MEINE EHRE HEISST TREUE' (My Honour is Loyalty), the 'holbein' style hilt with plated fitting associated with post 1937 daggers, ebonised wood grip inlet with sig-rune insignia and an eagle and swastika device (plating lost to eagle), black anodised scabbard with plated mounts, the chain with die-struck deaths-head and 'SS' panels, the reverse of one with the 'SS' proof-mark and terminating in a 'Wotan's' knot
