circa 1865, with three-groove rifled 33in. blued round barrel (signed J. Aston' on the underside), block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, colour hardened breech-block and long top-tang, colour hardened borderline engraved lock signed 'J. Aston', colour hardened hammer, chequered walnut half-stock with colour hardened furniture including a patch-box and spurred lower tang, military style under-barrel iron ramrod, the whole retaining virtually all its factory colour and finish together with an almost certainly associated oak storage case compartmented and lined in green baize and containing a number of accessories including a fine leather covered Sykes Patent powder flask, a number of loading tools, a cap tin and a muzzle tompion (escutcheon missing from lock)
