Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed on the 12th December 1892 as No.2 of a pair of toplever hammerless ejector guns for Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey.
It was built with 30in. Whitworth steel barrels with full choke in both and "scroll detonating".
They inform us that the gun was subsequently rebarrelled by them on the 8th August 1907 and that on the 10th February 1919, Purdey's offered to purchase the gun from the owner's widow.
The records also show that in 1934, the barrels were shortened to the current 28in.
