A 12-BORE TOPLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no 3738,
30in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels, rib engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63 PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 3/4 choke, some pits, carved percussion fences, broad strikers, rebounding sidelocks, the action flats marked 'J.D. & S. PATENT ACTION', and with patent details for W.M. Scott loaded indicators, patent no. 2752 of 25th October 1865, use number 31305, fine acanthus scroll engraving with feathered bordering, retaining traces of colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/4in. highly-figured stock including chequered horn buttplate, weight 6lb. 9oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed on the 11th August 1883, with 30in. barrels and left choke for a Robert Lees
