A GEORGIAN NAVAL MIDSHIPMAN'S DIRK,
circa 1790, with straight 13 1/4in. blade of diamond cross-section with blind central fuller (cleaned, traces of engraved decoration and later painted infill to fuller), straight brass cross-guard with stylised acorn finials and central gadrooned oval retaining a good amount of original gilt (one arm slightly bent), reverse tapering ivory grip of rectangular cross-section with carved borderlines to the edges, gilded brass rectangular pommel-cap with bun nut and mounted with a ring for a chain knuckle-bow (absent), no scabbard
