possibly American circa 1855, with octagonal 29 1/2in. iron barrel, large bead fore-sight and broad notch 'buckhorn' rear-sight, scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'LONG & MCLEAN', pale walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (inlet repairs at toe and right hand side of fore-end), iron furniture including complex pistol-grip lower tang, white metal fore-end tip and replacement wood ramrod, old refinish, some shallow pitting
