for 1888, with heavy octagonal blued 30in. barrel, adjustable tunnel fore-sight with spirit-level, rear-sight of Lyman 'battue' type, the top-flat of barrel signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. USA, slab-sided colour-hardened falling-block action (faded) with central hammer, top-tang fitted with a folding Lyman-style vernier ladder sight, chequered pistol-grip butt-stock of approximately 3x grade, chequered iron shotgun heel-plate, colour hardened under-lever, similar grade chequered walnut splinter fore-end with inlet ebony tip, much finish remaining
