(70cm) nitro chopperlump barrels with gold-inlaid acanthus detailing at the breech ends, the left tube gold-inlaid 'ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI', the rear lump signed 'Mario Dante' and 'Tony Reno', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, right wall at 19 (as made), manual safety, removable striker discs, non-selective single trigger, rolled-edge triggerguard, the action flats inlaid in gold with the makers details, calibre, date of manufacture (1982), serial number and 'Made in Italy', the toplever carved with a sea serpent and carved in high relief and gold inlaid with art deco fronds, the fences carved in high relief and gold-inlaid with nymphs perching on stylised acanthus leaves on a finely stippled background, the right lockplate carved with Pan (son of Hermes) climbing acanthus fronds, his gaze upon the nymph on the right fence, the left lockplate carved with Marsyas (son of Olympus) balancing on acanthus fronds and playing his flute, his gaze upon the nymph on the left fence, on both lockplates the acanthus transforming into a serpentlike creature to the fore, the underside crested with two birds of paradise looking down upon Triton (son of Poseidon) blowing upon his conch-shell trumpet, the triggerguard gold monogrammed and carved with two sea serpents, the whole inlaid in gold and on a finely stippled background, the fore-end decorated en suite and finely inset with the A & S crest, 14 3/8in. highly-figured stock, weight 6lb. 12oz., in its lightweight leather case with scarlet velveteen lining, some accessories and together with its accompanying wallet containing certificates of guarantee, engravers certificate, progress check card, certificate of proof and patterning targets
