circa 1885, with 33in. barrel, the top marked 'SOFT FOREIGN SHELL SPECIALLY MADE TO REDUCE FOULING FOR "FIELD" RIFLE CO. BIRMINGHAM' (faint), slab-sided receiver with dropping feed-ramp, the left hand side signed 'MARTINI'S PATENT' together with a crossed flag trademark and the number, the right hand side signed 'T. ANDREWS, 25 NEW ROAD NEAR WOOLWICH ARSENAL' with a further monogram trademark, walnut butt-stock (inlet repair at toe) with various number and other stamps, short under-lever, walnut three-quarter fore-end, two iron barrel-bands and swollen tipped under-barrel iron clearing rod, iron surfaces shallow frosted
