A CASED .21 POPE BROS. USA AIR-PISTOL, serial no. 5944,
the so-called 'Rifle-Pistol' model circa 1877, with pull-forwards smooth-bore brass-barrel, bead fore-sight, notch rear-sight to the receiver, small plated air-chamber, the end-cap marked 'POPE BROS USA' across the centre and 'CANADA MAR. 23 '75, BELGIUM OCT. 21/74' around an inner circle and 'PATD. JUNE 6, DEC 5, 71, NOV. 17 '74. ENGLAND JULY 1, FRANCE OCT. 20' around the outer circumference, nickel-plated birdshead grip with aperture for wire shoulder-stock (missing), spur-trigger, strong amount of original finish remaining to body and in a coarse felt-lined case of apparent similar vintage but possibly added later; complete with an original spanner tool and turnscrew and a hand-written shooting record for the pistol with entries dated around 1914/15
