A RARE 'ELLIS KNIFE' BY THORNHILL, LONDON,
marked with a Victorian 'kite' registration mark for September 28th 1875, 7 1/2in. bowie-style blade marked along the top left 'ELLIS KNIFE' and signed at the forte 'THORNHILL, LONDON' below a 'V.R. crown device, the reverse with the afore-mentioned 'kite' mark, fully chequered horn scales, the end of handle retaining a long steel needle or toothpick and together with an aperture for broad tweezers (absent), iron cross-guard with locking aperture, complete with its leather scabbard retaining lock (blade with signs of sharpening, belt loop distressed but intact)
