A LITTLE-USED AND HIGHLY ORNATE 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 775392,
dated 1981, 28in. nitro reproved (in 2023) barrels with raised broad rib, the tubes engraved 'SPECIAL - GEWEHRLAUFSTAHL. GEBR. MERKEL SUHL. MADE IN GDR.' and with acanthus scrollwork interspersed with flowers at breech ends, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. full choke in both, the lumps marked 'TG1' within a triangle, bolstered treble-grip action with sideclips, automatic safety with engraved 'S' detail, cocking-indicators, the action and furniture profusely engraved in relief with acanthus and floral scrollwork on a matted background, the lockplates carved in relief with a pointer flushing a covey of partridge on the left and a fox hunting duck on the right, in woodland settings, the underside with the Merkel trademark, 14 3/4in. figured pistolgrip stock with ornate acanthus scroll and floral bordering, cheekpiece, pistolgrip-cap, sling swivels and including 1in. ventilated rubber recoil pad, the fore-end decorated en-suite, weight 7lb. 6oz.
