for 1900, 28in. replacement reproved nitro barrels (by another in 1968, reproved in 1970), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, scroll-back treble-grip action with arcaded fences, side shoulders, the toplever gold-inlaid with a crown, manual side safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving with oak leaf bordering and game scene vignettes of hound and fowl, the triggerguard with two pointers, the safety surround with a lone pheasant, retaining traces of renewed colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. stock with horn drop points, ornate bordering to the chequering and including 5/8in. buttpad, slight sweep at comb, the fore-end incorporating William Baker ejector system, patent no. 17922 of 1896, use number 172, weight 7lb. 4oz.
