A GERMAN DRESS SWORD FOR THE KRIEGSMARINE, serial no. N757,
circa 1925, with polished slightly curved pipe-backed quill-tipped blade, makers stamp at forte, carved brass half-basket hilt with numbered fold-down inner guard locking the scabbard, the outer guard carved with a fouled anchor and folding upwards, 'D' shaped knucklebow with internal and external carving, lionshead pommel with the carved mane running down the back-strap, white celluloid grip with wire binding, complete with its black leather scabbard with engraved brass mounts, the throat with matching number and with and engraved stylised eagle over 'M', together with its leather rope-type hanging straps (frail), traces of gilding to sword and scabbard
