A 12-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1795, with triple-staged 31 3/4in. twist-iron barrel, the top-flat at breech originally signed in gilt 'OXFORD' (now rubbed out), engraved top-tang, platinum touch-hole, curved bevel-edged lock probably re-converted back from percussion with border engraving, starburst beneath the rainproof pan together with the signature 'SYKES', stepped rounded tail, roller frizzen, figured walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture including raised pistol-grip lower tang, two barrel keys and period under-barrel wood ramrod
