A CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION TRIGGER-COCKING REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT DOUBLE-TRIGGER', serial no. 7839T,
circa 1854, with blued octagonal 6in. barrel, engraved band at muzzle, scroll engraving to barrel-throat, replacement blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with a further later standing notch rear-sight dove-tailed to the top-strap, hinged 'TRANTER'S PATENT' rammer mounted to the left hand side of frame and barrel, the top-strap signed within an engraved borderline 'W. PRITCHARD & SON', borderline engraved cylinder with rope-carved band to leading edge (traces of colour), borderline and scroll engraved blued frame, inverted 'Y; safety spring, spurless hammer, extension cocking trigger protruding through the trigger-guard bow and marked 'TRANTER'S PATENT', chequered walnut semi saw-handled one piece grip with iron butt-cap, much original finish remaining and complete with its 'WM. PRITCHARD & SON' trade-labelled mahogany case, the interior lined and compartmented with dark green baize and containing a loading/cleaning rod, a brass mould, a powder flask, an oil bottle and an unopened tin of 'Joyce's' caps, all contemporary with the revolver
