A .310 (CADET) SINGLE-SHOT TRAINING RIFLE, MODEL 'NEW SOUTH WALES MARTINI TRAINER', serial no. 58687,
circa WWI, with 25 1/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating rear-sight with micrometer adjustment, the top of barrel signed 'MADE BY THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. LTD.', plain receiver stamped with a kangaroo to the bridge and 'MADE BY THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. LTD' above 'TRADE MARKS' and the 'Piled Arms' design over 'BSA' on the left hand side, the right with 'N.S.W' over ''24.009', 'Martini-style' underlever action, walnut straight hand butt-stock, iron heel-plate, walnut military-style three-quarter fore-end with one iron barrel-band and an iron nose-cap, no provision for clearing rod, strong amount of original finish and fitted with a later leather sling
