30in. nitro reproved barrels (in 2018), the tubes engraved 'SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL.' and the rib engraved 'W.W. GREENER. 68. HAYMARKET. LONDON. WORKS ST. MARY'S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM.', 2 1/2 chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, scroll-back action with side shoulders, double shell carved fences, the toplever gold-inlaid with a crown and sceptre, manual side-safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, the surround engraved with a pheasant resting on a branch, the action and furniture profusely engraved with acanthus scrollwork interspersed with bands of leaf motifs and surrounding vignettes of pheasant, the underside with a woodcock in flight, the triggerguard engraved with a pair of hounds on point, 14 1/2in. figured stock (cracked at hand) with horn insert drop-points, fleur-de-lys chequering, including buttplate, weight 6lb. 9oz.
