WESTLEY RICHARDS
A QUANTITY OF HAND-WRITTEN, SIGNED, SEALED AND WITNESSED 'LICENCES TO WORK PATENTS' AND 'ASSIGNMENT OF LETTERS PATENTS' FROM THE LAST QUARTER OF THE 19TH CENTURY,
The Licences to Work Patents forming the contract between the registered patentees and other gunmaking firms to utilise their patents, and setting out the conditions under which these patents may be used, with the various clauses and responsibilities shouldered by both parties.
Two of the licences were submitted as evidence to the High Court of Justice as evidence in contemporary court cases between Westley Richards (plaintiffs) and W. & C. Scott & Sons (defendants); 1) 22nd June 1892 - Westley Richards & Co. Ltd to Messrs. W. & C. Scott & Sons, 'Licence to Work patents' deed 'modifying terms of Licence' dated 15th July 1892 (the rear of the document with hand-written details of being used as court evidence 'In the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, 5th May 1892)
2) 4th February 1892 - Westley Richards & Co. Ltd., to Mr William Lee, 'Licence to Work Patents'
