AN 1827 PATTERN BRITISH NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD, serial no.16182,
circa WWI, with slightly curved 31 1/2in. spear-point blade of 'Wilkinson' style, etched on one side with scrolls and a fouled anchor, the other with scrolls and a Royal Crest, 'Star of David' quality mark on the left hand side at forte, the maker 'MOSELEY AND POUNSFORD LTD, 32 THE HARD, PORTSMOUTH' on the right, brass half-basket with folding inner guard (traces of gilding), pale sharkskin grip with wire binding and a blue and gold braid sword-knot, TOGETHER WITH its original brass mounted black leather scabbard and leatherette sword-bag (small patches of discolouration to the blade near tip)
